Lot 3 Rolls (60 Coins). All 1963 Benjamin Franklin Silver Half Dollar Rolls (60 Coins). Uncirculated BU 63. Individual Weight 12.5g. Composition Silver. Diameter 30.6mm. Mint: Philadelphia. Designer John R. Sinnock. The obverse of the Franklin Half Dollar received a makeover for 1960's production, and this is most evident in the restoration of Ben's fine hairlines. They had been worn off of the original master hub by 1952 and were thereafter absent on currency strikes through 1959. The Philadelphia Mint production was a replay of 1959, and huge numbers of these coins were preserved by speculators. The trading of uncirculated rolls had been popular since the 1930s, but it reached a peak during the years 1959-64. Most survivors were traded frequently in roll and even bag quantities in a market that valued quantity over quality; however, this an opportunity to purchase sixty (60) coins in BU63 condition.
